Welcome to Simplicity LifeLink. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or use Simplicity LifeLink (the "Site"). Information provided by you through our website is used by Simplicity LifeLink, its agents, and insurance carrier partners solely for its business purposes and in order to serve your needs. We are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of your personal information.

By accessing and using the Site, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of your information by us in the manner described in this Privacy Policy and in the privacy policy of our insurance carrier partners. We reserve the right to change and update this Privacy Policy and such updated versions will be posted on the Site. This Privacy Policy supersedes all earlier versions of such policy. This Privacy Policy is effective only applicable to the Site and not to any other website that you may be able to access from the Site which may have its own data collection and use practices and policies.

By using this site, you are giving Simplicity LifeLink, and its agents and insurance carrier partners consent to communicate and transact electronically. You may withdraw your consent to receive Communications electronically and to use an electronic signature at any time by contacting us. If you withdraw your consent, you will be unable to apply for products and services through the Site, and we will be unable to continue to process any pending applications for products and services, including insurance products.

In addition, if you are from California, the Important Privacy Choice for California Consumers notice will apply to you. If you have not obtained or sought to obtain one of SBLI's products and are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act Privacy Notice applies to you.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Personal information means information that can be used to identify and contact you. You do not need to submit personal information to access the Service generally. However, you must submit personal information to access certain aspects of the Site, including those which allow you to quote and apply for and obtain a life insurance policy through the Site. We collect personal information when you create an account through the Site, participate in registration forms, appointment forms, apply for, or obtain an Insurance Policy.

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically collected information as "Device Information."

To create an account through the Site, we require you to provide certain information, including your name and email address. We may collect certain other information in connection with the issuance of an Insurance Policy, including your mailing address, phone number, date of birth, social security number, driver's license or state identification number, financial information, medical history, existing life insurance coverage, information about your employment and other information that may be required by life insurance companies to decide whether to issue an Insurance Policy to you. We generally collect your identifying information (for example, your name, address, e-mail, telephone number, date of birth, social security number, and employment information), bank account information, financial information, health information, driving record, criminal history, activity information, and other personal information from these third parties.

We use Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to gather data about you from your financial institutions and to process ACH payments. You agree that by using our Site, services and products, you are granting us and Plaid the right, power, and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from your financial institution. You also agree that your personal and financial information will be transferred, stored, and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid Privacy Policy.

HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via the site or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone. We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request.

When you visit our site, some information may also be automatically collected through the use of log files, such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, your computer's operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring website and your activity on the site. This may include processing your application for life insurance; servicing your Simplicity LifeLink policy; enabling automatic payments and funds transfers with financial institutions; communicating with you concerning your application, account and transactions.

We may also use your personal information to select you for certain marketing offers, newsletters, surveys and/or requests for feedback regarding your experience. We may use your personal information both to select you for an offer and to communicate that offer to you. Receipt of these communications is voluntary. If you do not wish to receive these communications please click on the "unsubscribe link" provided in such communications. We make every effort to promptly process all unsubscribe requests. You may not, however, opt out of service-related emails and communications (for example, you may not opt out of emails related to account verification, administration, changes/updates to features of our Site or products or services, technical and security notices or that provide other transactional information).

We may share your information with your advisor, life insurance companies, reinsurance companies and their respective administrators, vendors, agents, and third-party service providers, including but not limited to insurance support organizations, that are engaged in services related to underwriting and issuing life insurance policies as needed to provide you the insurance products and services you request.

We may also aggregate, de-identify, or otherwise strip data of all personally identifying characteristics and may share that aggregated and/or de-identified data with other companies, organizations or individuals.

We will also share your information with third-party vendors, agents and other service providers that perform services on our behalf, as needed to carry out their work for us, which may include billing, payments, background check services, service fulfillment, web hosting or providing analytic services. We provide only as much information as is needed for these third-party vendors, agents and other service providers to perform services on our behalf.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

PRIVACY INFORMATION FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the "Shine The Light" law, permits California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below. If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have agent or client information with Simplicity LifeLink, you have the right to request removal of unwanted data on Simplicity LifeLink’s online platforms. To request removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure the data is not publicly displayed on the Simplicity LifeLink’s online platforms, but please be aware that the data may not be completely or comprehensively removed from all our systems (e.g., backups, etc.). The California Code of Regulations defines a "resident" as: 

(1) every individual who is in the State of California for other than a temporary or transitory purpose and

(2) every individual who is domiciled in the State of California who is outside the State of California for a temporary or transitory purpose 

All other individuals are defined as "non-residents." If this definition of "resident" applies to you, we must adhere to certain rights and obligations regarding your personal information

We source, use and share with third parties the categories of personal information we collect from and about you consistent with the various business and operational purposes we discuss throughout this privacy policy and for the business and operational purposes of our service providers in accordance with the CCPA. Please note that the CCPA sets forth certain obligations for businesses that “sell” personal information to third parties. We do not engage in such activity and have not engaged in such activity in the past twelve months from the effective date of this privacy policy.

CCPA Rights Disclosure. If you are a California resident, the CCPA allows you (or an authorized agent acting on your behalf) to make certain requests related to your personal information that is subject to the CCPA. Specifically, the CCPA allows you tohave a right to know:

  • whether we collect and use your personal information;
  • the categories of personal information that we collect;
  • the purposes for which the collected personal information is used;
  • whether we sell or share personal information to third parties;
  • the categories of personal information that we sold, shared, or disclosed for a business purpose;

In accordance with applicable law, we are not obligated to provide or delete consumer information that is de-identified in response to a consumer request or to re-identify individual data to verify a consumer request.

The CCPA further provides you with the right to not be discriminated against (as provided for in applicable law) for exercising your rights. Please note that certain information may be exempt from such requests under California law. For example, we need certain information in order to provide the Services to you.

We also will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding to a request. In doing so, we will need to, at a minimum, match two or more pieces of information provided by you with the information maintained by us. We may call you using the phone number you provide to request your Social Security Number to further verify your identity and answer a few authentication questions required by the third-party identity verification service we use to assist in this process. We will not store or use this information for any other purpose.

If we are unable to verify your identity, we shall have the right, but not the obligation, to request additional information from you.

If you decide to designate an authorized agent (other than through power of attorney) to submit a CCPA request on your behalf, we require that you provide the authorized agent written permission to do so and verify your own identity through the process described in the paragraph above. We also require the authorized agent to submit proof that you have authorized them to act on your behalf.

DATA RETENTION

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

This Site contains links to, and uses services from, other Internet sites that are not maintained by us. Unless otherwise stated, we make no warranties or representations regarding these websites or the products or services offered on them. This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date set forth below and is only applicable to the Service and not to any other website that you may be able to access from the Service which may have its own data collection and use practices and policies.
